Boeing is facing a loss of $125 million as the Starliner aircraft was forced to extend its stay in space due to back-to-back technical difficulties. The aerospace company’s latest quarterly report revealed the new losses, adding to the $1.1 billion already spent on the mission. The eight-day mission was scheduled to end on June 14 but faulty thrusters and helium leaks have caused a delay in return. Boeing and NASA announced in the latest development that the starliner CST-100 was safe for landing, but they decided to run extended tests to ensure maximum safety. A hot fire test and exterior inspection were conducted on the spaceship, yielding encouraging results. The Starliner was set to launch in April 2023, but issues with the reentry parachute system and flammable tape discovered during further inspection caused a $288 million loss.
